In the animated Barbie: Mariposa and the Fairy Princess, viewers are once again introduced to the enchanting Butterfly Princess in the sequel to Barbie Mariposa. As with all Barbie film productions, Mariposa and the Fairy Princess is targeted towards the pre-school (ages 3-5) set.
Upon returning to her hometown of Flutterfield, Mariposa and her accompanying fairy friends make the acquaintance of a crystal fairy princess who encourages her new friends to visit Shimmervale, a crystal-energized magical kingdom where they are enthralled by the Glow Waterfalls. Mariposa meets and becomes best friends with Catania, another Fairy Princess who enlists the help of Mariposa and friends in assisting her in thwarting the efforts of Gwyllion, an evil fairy who intends to steal all of Shimmervale's crystals. Catania and Mariposa lead the quest to stymie Gwyllion, rescue the crystals and save the picturesque kingdom.
Vividly-colored and entertaining from the start, Mariposa and the Fairy Princess quickly captures and retains the attention of young viewers as well as teaching the importance of friendship and loyalty as the princesses work together for a good cause.
